Vietnam’s First and Most Modern Logistics Park Officially Operational

On December 11, at the Dong Dang border economic zone in Lang Son province, Viettel inaugurated Vietnam’s first Logistics Park. The Viettel Logistics Park is a key project in Viettel Group’s strategy to build the national logistics infrastructure. The park aims to become a trade bridge connecting 700 million ASEAN citizens with the 1.4 billion-strong Chinese market, positioning Vietnam as a strategic logistics hub in Southeast Asia.

Mr. Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, shared that the world is entering a new era where logistics has become a crucial industry determining the competitiveness of nations on the global economic map. In Vietnam, logistics currently contributes about 5-6% of GDP and is rapidly growing. However, the country still faces significant challenges such as high logistics costs, inconsistent infrastructure, and a lack of connection between different transport modes. Viettel Post’s logistics sector was born in this context.

The logistics infrastructure Viettel Post is creating will serve as the foundation to form a modern, synchronized logistics network, helping to connect Vietnam’s goods from production, domestic consumption to international import-export, optimizing supply chains, and reducing costs.

In the near future, Viettel Post aims to complete a network of logistics centers nationwide, serving key economic regions with five orientations: smart border gates, agricultural logistics centers, industrial park logistics centers, supply chain infrastructure, and a multimodal transport network.

“All of this creates an intelligent, automated logistics ecosystem, connecting multiple modes of transport, from road, rail, and water to air, contributing to making Vietnam a significant logistics hub in the region, in line with the spirit of Resolution No. 13-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee, which emphasizes the role of logistics infrastructure in connecting and enhancing economic efficiency,” Mr. Thắng emphasized.

Mr. Thang also tasked Viettel Post with continuing to integrate technology and comprehensive automation: applying the most modern technologies to optimize operational processes, continuously aiming for time and cost optimization. Along with that, Viettel Post will continue to provide appropriate logistics solutions at competitive costs, helping Vietnamese businesses easily access global markets. The goal is for ViettelPost to become the leading logistics brand in Southeast Asia by 2030. Additionally, they will apply green logistics solutions to minimize environmental impact and contribute to the country’s sustainable development goals.

Synchronized Infrastructure, State-of-the-Art Technology in Vietnam

Covering an area of 143.7 hectares with a total investment of over 3.3 trillion VND, the Viettel Logistics Park is the most synchronized and modern logistics center in Vietnam. It is also the first logistics park in Vietnam, providing full-service, professional import-export logistics, including customs clearance, quarantine, inspection, transshipment, warehousing, transportation, and cross-border freight.

Mr. Hoang Trung Thanh, General Director of Viettel Post, stated that the Viettel Logistics Park is fully integrated with functions such as customs clearance, import-export, post-harvest preservation areas, and the Vietnam agricultural product trading center. Additionally, the project offers various value-added services like container repair workshops, vehicle repair, car wash, fuel stations; sorting, packaging, labeling goods; food processing and canning, small production; hotels and accommodations, restaurants, entertainment; rental offices for banks, logistics companies, supermarkets; product display; goods exhibitions; and rail station warehouses.

Phase 1 of the project, spanning 58 hectares, was completed in December 2024. The capacity of Phase 1 reaches 336,000 trucks per year, equivalent to 930 trucks per day, and is expected to increase to 561,000 trucks per day by 2030.

According to Mr. Thanh, the Viettel Logistics Park, combined with the smart border gate project, provides comprehensive logistics solutions, including transportation, warehousing, customs clearance, quarantine, import-export… all domestically. This creates a closed supply chain for cross-border logistics, expected to shorten customs clearance time by 40%, improve warehousing efficiency by 30%, and reduce warehouse management costs by 25%.

The Viettel Logistics Park includes an agricultural product trading center, connecting high-quality agricultural products from Vietnam, China, Thailand, and other countries in the region. With a modern post-harvest preservation system that maintains quality during customs clearance, this not only enhances product value but also expands consumption opportunities, benefiting farmers significantly.

Notably, advanced technologies and optimally designed systems directly connect with the customs data systems of Vietnam, China, and other relevant authorities, reducing customs clearance time from 4-5 days to less than 24 hours. This is especially significant for agricultural and aquatic products, which have stringent time and preservation requirements.

“Border congestion is a persistent problem in agricultural exports, causing significant damage and losses for people. A container of dragon fruit or watermelon worth 200-300 million VND can incur up to 100 million VND in transportation costs, and sometimes spoil due to border congestion, leading to price drops to just a few thousand VND per kilogram, leaving farmers in distress. Previously, it would take 3 to 4 days to clear a container, sometimes even longer, but with the Logistics Park, it will take only 24 hours,” said Mr. Thanh.

At the park, the exhibition and livestreams commercial area is organized into a space for trade promotion activities, product and service introduction, and promoting e-commerce through product livestreams on online platforms, helping businesses directly connect with the global market.

The Viettel Logistics Park is a place where the most modern logistics technologies are applied, such as the Transport Management System (TMS), the Warehouse Management System (WMS), Digital Twin technology for digitizing data from IoT devices, Smart Gate technology that triples the speed of vehicle processing and customs clearance compared to traditional methods. The automated 6-sided X-Ray scanning system, the automated transshipment area using telescopic conveyors, reduces transfer time between containers to just 30-40 minutes instead of 3 hours traditionally.

Significantly, the e-commerce and express delivery processing area uses AGV autonomous robots developed by Viettel Post, combined with the DWS automatic identification and sorting system, and the automated scanning system capable of monitoring, inspecting, and clearing 600,000 parcels per day. Mr. Le Tuan Anh, Deputy General Director of Viettel Post, stated that the Logistics Park is built with the most advanced technologies, including a combination of automation applications, AI, and minimal human intervention in the process, to enhance operational capacity and shorten the time to ensure cargo safety. Currently, the Logistics Park has 10 core technology systems such as robots, autonomous vehicles, and automated delivery drones, all developed, assembled, and mastered by Viettel.
