According to the latest data from Departments of Industry and Trade of the provinces and cities, according to the planning up to 2020, with a vision to 2025, in 2045 the whole country has 1,704 industrial clusters (ICs) with total area of 58,123 hectares.
The distribution of industrial clusters in regions is as follows: Northern Midlands and Mountains (250 clusters, 8,274.6 ha); Red River Delta (515 clusters, 16,120.6 ha); Central Coast (457 clusters, 12,663.8 ha); Central Highlands (77 clusters, 3,200.3 ha); Southeast region (146 clusters, 6,478 ha); Southwest region (259 clusters, 11,385.7 ha).
By the end of 2020, the whole country has 968 industrial clusters with a total area of 30,912 hectares, which have been established, of which 450 are infrastructure construction investors (accounting for 46.5%). The remaining industrial zones are invested by IC Development Center, Industrial Park Management Board at district level, Construction Investment Project Management Board at district level, public non-business units under Department of Industry and Trade and other units as investors.
Regarding infrastructure construction investment, currently, the whole country has 955 ICs with total area of 29,782 ha that have been approved for detailed planning; 644 ICs with total area of 20,222 ha have been approved for technical infrastructure investment projects with total investment capital of VND 115,200 billion. After being approved for investment projects, these ICs have been investing in infrastructure; up to now, total capital invested in infrastructure is about VND 35,000 billion (accounting for 30% of the total planned investment).
Regarding production and business activities, Ministry of Industry and Trade further informed that there are 730 ICs nationwide with total area of 22,336 ha under operation, distributed in 57 provinces and cities (6 provinces/cities that have not yet operated industrial clusters, including: Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lai Chau, Can Tho, Tra Vinh, Bac Lieu), accounting for 74.5% of the established ICs; attracted 13,468 production and business investment projects, total registered capital of VND 316,428 billion…
