December 6th 2022, the Embassy of Denmark and Ashui.com jointly hosted the opening of the exhibition ‘A Century of Danish Interior Design’. The exhibition shows the 20 most popular Danish interior designers of the past century and their ahead of time and innovative design works.
The exhibition was opened by the Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Mr. Nicolai Prytz and Chairman of Ashui.com Mr. Le Viet Ha with broad participation of Vietnamese and foreign designers, experts, university teachers and entrepreneurs.
The opening of the exhibition was followed by the seminar ‘Let’s Talk about Interior Design’ in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city aimed at promoting exchange of knowledge and experience between Danish and Vietnamese interior designers and practitioners. H.E. Mr. Nicolai Prytz, Ambassador of Denmark in Vietnam, said at the opening of the event ‘Scandinavian interior design in general and Danish interior design in particular have gained increased interests and respects in Vietnam for being functional but chic, innovative but simple and timeless.
I hope that through the exhibition “A century of Danish interior design’, audiences will gain a better understanding of Danish design culture, and get inspirations from the stories and iconic design works of talented Danish designers who have shaped the identity and influenced the development of the Danish interior design culture today’ The seminar ‘Let’ Talk about Interior Design’ with both Danish and Vietnamese well-known interior designers as key-note speakers, including Mr. Ebbe Gehl and Mr. Hans Jakobsen, two famous interior designers from Denmark, Ms. Nguyen Phan Thuy Duong (Editor in Chief of 2 ELLE Decoration), Mr. Nguyen Quoc Long (Creative Director of MIA Design), Mr. Vu Hoang Son and Mr. Vu Hoang Ha (founders of VUUV), is the first endeavour to initiate networking between Danish and Vietnamese interior designers and practitioners.
It is expected that these engagement and cooperation will continue and further expand in the future based on mutual demands and interests. The exhibition ‘A Century of Danish Interior Design’ is open for the public in both Hanoi (Complex 01, Alley 167 Tay Son, Hanoi) and in Ho Chi Minh city (at C-space, 12-13 N1 street, Tan Thuan Processing Zone, D7, Ho Chi Minh city).
The exhibitions and the seminars are part of a comprehensive cultural and public diplomacy programme undertaken by the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark.
